Oxford AMR Network January Meeting
Tuesday, 21 January 2025

Magdalen College, Oxford, OX1 4AU

The speakers for the Oxford AMR Network Hilary event are:

1) Prof Eleanor Stride, Professor of Biomaterials: Prof Stride specialises in the fabrication of nano and microscale devices for targeted drug delivery. Her talk titled 'Stimuli responsive systems for targeted delivery of antimicrobial therapy' will focus on new antimicrobial therapeutics and targeted delivery techniques to improve the use of existing antibiotics and provide viable alternatives.

2) Dr Nicholas Housden, Head of R&D, Glox Therapeutics will give a talk titled 'Targeting AMR pathogens with narrow-spectrum antimicrobials'. Glox Therapeutics, a joint Glasgow-Oxford spin-out, is developing bacteriocin-based, narrow-spectrum antimicrobials that target and kill a single pathogenic organism irrespective of its antibiotic resistance determinants, leaving host microbiota unaffected. Nick's talk will focus on the technology platforms being developed within Glox, designed to irradicate single ESKAPE pathogens.

3) Dr Nicole Stoesser, Consultant in infectious diseases and medical microbiology at the John Radcliffe Hospital: Dr Stoesser runs a portfolio of research studies investigating various aspects of AMR including Enterobacterales, one health, rapid diagnostics and epidemiology of infectious diseases.
