Biography

Olivia focuses on the intersection of system design and organisational alignment for healthcare improvement. She is passionate about designing organisations to make it easier for staff to do what is needed while aligning the systems and processes at every level toward organisational goals. Her work takes place in healthcare systems (most recently at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, US and the National Health Service, UK), academia (most recently at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London), and the private sector (most recently with digital health providers and global pharmaceutical companies). In the past, her work has spanned straightforward quality improvement projects (e.g., the reduction of unplanned extubations in the ICU) to larger scale, system redesigns (e.g., the implementation of a hospital-wide Rapid Response Team). She currently serves as the Associate Director for the University of Oxford’s MSc in Surgical Science and Practice and PGCert in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, is an advisory board member for BMJ Quality and Safety, and is an Enterprise and Innovation Fellow in the University of Oxford.
