In collaboration with the Department of Chemistry Outreach Team, the IOI have developed an outreach workshop entitled 'Bug Fight!', aimed at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students (ages 14-18). 

This workshop, designed to fit within the UK school science curriculum, will feature multiple interactive experiments based on our work discovering and developing new antibiotic treatments (see Brem J. et al, Nature Chemistry, 2022;14(1):15-24).

The main goals of this workshop are to:

• promote awareness regarding the science and risk of antibiotic resistance and how it can be combatted;
• motivate students to engage with the chemistry and biology of bacteria;
• inspire the next generation of AMR scientists.

The workshop is being developed during the academic year 2022-2023, and will be ready for delivery to students for the 2023-2024 academic year.
